Sunshine Village knows that many skiers and riders make their decisions based on our daily snow reports. That's why we do our very best to give you accurate information.
The process starts early each day, when overnight snow cat operators check the plot on our popular Wawa run each day at 5:30 a.m. The information for Wawa is compiled with data on snowfall in the past 24 hours, and recorded on the snow phone by 6 a.m. It is also posted on skibanff.com.
We also receive daily data from Sunshine's own Snow Safety professional, who assesses the conditions throughout the mountain for both snow pack and safety.
Conditions across Sunshine's 3,358 acres of skiable terrain vary considerably, depending on time of year, accumulated snowfall, wind conditions and other environmental factors. That's why our measurement should be taken as a guide for the most common runs, and not a representation of every available run.
Unlike some resorts, Sunshine doesn't pick and choose the most favourable spot to measure the snow - we rely on one location, so you can count on our reports to be consistent and a true barometer of what your day at Alberta's favourite ski resort will be like.
