Live In Canmore
Billed as an ‘authentic mountain community’ Canmore provides many options for housing. 20 minutes from Banff, Canmore is further from Sunshine but closer to Calgary.
Longer term housing
Most people who arrive in Banff without housing look through the local papers when they arrive, or online before they leave home to find a room, apartment or townhouse for rent.
Some helpful links for housing are: Kijiji, the Canmore Leader and The Rocky Mountain Outlook.
Shorter term housing – Hostels & Hotels
We recommend reserving accommodation for a few weeks at one of the local hostels before you arrive if you do not have housing pre-arranged.
The Hostel Bear - Located on Bow Valley Trail, one block from the downtown core this hostel has many amenities and is quite new to Canmore. They also offer discounts for Sunshine staff.
Getting to work from Canmore
Staff has the option of driving their own vehicle to work or taking a Sunshine Village bus. If you own your own vehicle you will need 1) a Parks pass from Parks Canada 2) to register your vehicle with the Human Resources Department when you start work.
The staff bus brings you to Sunshine for an 8am shift and leaves by 5:30pm daily (5:45pm when spring skiing starts). Buses from Canmore however are more limited, as there is not a mid-day bus for staff or guests heading to the resort.
