New Moon to take the Pepsi Stage holiday Monday as the final Spring Concert Series act

May 17, 2014

These four talented musicians are a house-hold name around the Bow Valley and they’re back at Sunshine Village to entertain guests on this Monday leading up to the 86th Annual Slush Cup.   We spoke to the popular local band to learn a little bit more about who they are and what kind of music guests at Sunshine can expect.

Who is New Moon?

We are Russ Brant, Shannon Sternloff, Brad Carter and Marty Carter. We all hail from Calgary, Alberta, but now live in different towns or cities throughout Alberta and British Columbia.

How long have you been playing together?

We’ve been playing together for over 30 years and have over 150 songs in our repertoire. We all live in different parts of Canada, but when we meet up, we pick up right where we’ve left off.

What kind of music can guests of the resort expect to hear?

We’re all about the cover songs, so that means you’ll hear folk, rock ‘n roll, blues and some pop. Guests at Sunshine can expect to hear some Jimmy Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, and a little Bob Marley in there too. We also like to play a few original songs in a style we like to call reggae-rock.

What’s it like to perform at an event like the 86th annual Slush Cup?

There’s always a bit of a party atmosphere which is awesome to be around and you can’t beat the energy that comes from the skiing and boarding crowd. We all grew up skiing at Sunshine and still visit whenever we can. It truly is one of the most beautiful places in the world and we are thrilled to be back.

New Moon is the fifth and final act of the 2014 Sunshine Village Spring Concert Series and will be performing on Monday, May 19th right before the 86th Annual Slush Cup.  These live shows can be enjoyed by anyone with a lift ticket or season’s pass.
