Sunshine to host Salomon Spring Series Sunshine to host Salomon Spring Series events this Easter weekend April 14, 2014 This Easter Sunshine Village guests can take in some family-friendly slopeside entertainment while the region’s best up and coming athletes perform Mark McMorris-inspired tricks in the Rogers Terrain Park and newly constructed Pando Hill off of Trapper’s Spring Patio. The weekend events, which are part of the inaugural Salomon Spring Series, include a brand new slopestyle competition on Saturday, followed by an encore of the wildly successful Salomon Berry Rail Jam on Sunday. Guests of the world class resort can watch both men and women skiers and riders compete with Olympic-sized aspirations or better yet, are invited to showcase their well-honed terrain park skills by signing up for a little friendly competition. The Salomon Slopestyle Competition This brand new event will take place on Saturday, April 19th in the Roger’s Terrain Park and will feature two dedicated spectator areas for guests to enjoy the competition. Qualifying runs take place 10:30 am - 1:30 pm with the finals from 2 pm – 3:30 pm. Interested in competing? Pre-registration is available in the General Office at Sunshine’s base and in Calgary at Snow Central. Or, check in race day from 9 am – 10 am in the West Wing Meeting Room at the Sunshine Mountain Lodge. Registration to participate in the event is $30 and will feature four categories: women’s ski, women’s snowboard, men’s ski and men’s snowboard Men and women skiers and snowboarders ages 13 and up and are able to compete for cash prizes with contestants being judged on difficulty, variety and execution. Salomon Berry Rail Jam Following an incredible launch of the first rail jam of the Salomon series, Sunday’s event will take place off the spectator-friendly Pando Hill in front of Trapper’s Spring Patio. Pre-registration is available for this event on mountain and in Calgary (see details for above-mentioned slopestyle competition) or race day morning on April 20th in the West Wing Meeting Room at the Sunshine Mountain Lodge. Registration to participate is $25 and will feature four categories: women’s ski, women’s snowboard, men’s ski and men’s snowboard. Men and women skiers and snowboarders ages 13 and up are able to compete for cash prizes with contestants being judged on difficulty, variety and execution.
