Alpine Racers Ski Club The Sunshine Alpine Racers Ski Club hosted a fantastic weekend of Alpine Ski Racing with the K1 Banff Lodging Company series on March 10th and 11th. Wildfire trail at Sunshine Village Ski and Snowboard Resort was the scene for a full day of exciting races. “The K1 provincial is an incredible event and it’s fantastic to see these young athletes race,” noted John Scurfield, Senior Vice President of Resort Operations, Sales and Marketing. “They are Canada’s future.” It was an exciting two days of racing with dual giant slalom on Saturday and dual slalom on Sunday. Both courses were challenging for competitors and exciting for the spectators, thanks to the double pro jumps in each course and the expert course setting of CAST alumni and Sunshine Head Coach Jim Read. Founded in 1971, Sunshine Ski Club has seen many of members go on to compete on to the National Team including, Lana Blais Mullen, Cary Mullen, Darren Thorburn, Karen Percy, Shona Rubens and current CAST Member Andy Trow.
