Sunshine Village Ski & Snowboard resort is gearing up for another great season that AccuWeather.com is now predicting will be blanketed with another year of  spectacular early season  snowfalls.

With a planned opening day of November 9th, skiers and boarders s will enjoy an astonishing 194 days on Canada’s Best Snow during the longest season in the Canadian Rockies.

A recently released fall forecast by AccuWeather.com, indicates the Rockies will be the place to be come November. Meteorologists are expecting the jet stream to increase around the Rockies bringing snow fall as early as early to mid-October.

Last season Sunshine Village received a staggering record breaking 1047cm(34 feet) of snow demolishing the previous record of 908cm set during the 1989-90 season.

To gain some perspective on what 10 metres looks like, imagine the full length of a school bus, towering at over 30ft.

Or, picture 4 African elephants stacked on top of each other each standing about 2.5 metres tall.

“Four Elephants Deep!” trumpeted the National Post, as Sunshine smashed monthly and then all-time previous snowfall records in late March and early April.

Sunshine Village has the longest non-glacial season in Canada and is renowned for its champagne powder, a very smooth and dry snow, which is fantastic for both skiing and boarding.
