Bring back the 80’s with Sunshine’s first-ever Retro Ski Weekend

Dust off your neon ski gear and join Sunshine Village at the first ever Retro Ski Weekend. Featuring live music from the past, the outdoor concerts will showcase Bow Valley favourites TR3 on Saturday, May 11th and Funk & Disorderly on Sunday, May 12th.

With temperatures set to hit double digits and conditions perfect for spring skiing, don’t forget to grab a glass of champagne from the Veuve Clicquot snow bar while enjoying all the festivities.  The resort will also feature throwback drink specials in the Chimney Corner Lounge, Mad Trapper’s Saloon and Creekside Bar and Grill.

In addition to great music and drinks, the best dressed guy and gal will be crowned Retro Day King and Queen and will receive lift tickets to the 85th annual Slush Cup on Monday, May 20th. Prizes will also be awarded for best air guitar, with the competition taking place on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.

If you’d like to be featured on our Facebook page, get ready to pull some big tricks in the Rogers Terrain Park between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday, and join a group ski and ride which will be held both days on the Dell Valley ski run located off of the Strawberry Express quad chairlift at 1:15 p.m.

Additional May events include:

2013 Sunshine Spring Concert Series

Live performances from local bands will take place every weekend until May 20th. Concerts take place each afternoon starting at 2 p.m. and are accessible to all Sunshine on-mountain guests.

Veuve Clicquot champagne and oyster bar

Join Sunshine Village on Canada’s first Veuve Clicquot champagne and oyster bar on the Trappers’ spring patio every weekend until May 20th.  This new après ski offering, which is well known at resorts around the globe, will entice guests to sample one of the most recognizable French champagne brands while enjoying freshly shucked West Coast oysters.

May 19th: Bikini’s & Boardshorts

There is still time to help Sunshine Village raise money for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation (CBCF) by taking part in this fun-filled team event. Get your friends or coworkers together to ski, snowboard or simply ride the Strawberry Express quad chair in their snow pants and bikinis, or their boardshorts in support of an important cause. A merchandise tent will be set up in the village selling water bottles, t-shirts, hats and much more with all proceeds going to the CBCF.

May 20th: 85th annual Slush Cup

Voted one of the best spring events in North America, Slush Cup features wild and crazy individuals brave enough to ski or ride into a pool of ice cold, slush water, wearing their craziest and most original outfits. Registration opens at 8:30 a.m. on the day of the event. Participants must be at least 18 years old with valid photo ID.

Sunshine Village is wide open ‘till May 20th.
