Sunshine’s May events set to impress

Spring is the perfect time for goggle tans, patios, and live music, so be sure to join Sunshine Village this May for some fun-filled events happening all around the mountain. Wide open until May 20th, there is plenty of time to enjoy the slopes and take in the resort’s outdoor events.

Sunshine’s spring events lineup includes:

2013 Sunshine Spring Concert Series

Live performances from local bands will take place every weekend until May 20th. Concerts take place each afternoon starting at 2 p.m. and are accessible to all Sunshine on-mountain guests.

May 4th and 5th – New Moon

May 11th – TR3

May 12th – Funk & Disorderly

May 18th and 19th – The Steadies

Veuve Clicquot champagne and oyster bar

Join Sunshine Village on Canada’s first Veuve Clicquot champagne and oyster bar on the Trappers’ spring patio every weekend until May 20th.  This new après ski offering, which is well known at resorts around the globe, will entice guests to sample one of the most recognizable French champagne brands while enjoying freshly shucked West Coast oysters.

May 11th & 12th: Retro ski weekend

Hit the slopes in your 80’s neon snow suit and take part in Sunshine’s first ever retro ski weekend.  Enjoy live music from TR3 and Funk & Disorderly, competitions in the Rogers Terrain Park, and the retro day king and queen crowning for great prizes.

May 19th: Bikini’s & Boardshorts

There is still time to help Sunshine Village raise money for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation (CBCF) by taking part in this fun-filled team event. Get your friends or coworkers together to ski, snowboard or simply ride the Strawberry Express quad chair in their snow pants and bikinis, or their boardshorts in support of an important cause. A merchandise tent will be set up in the village selling water bottles, t-shirts, hats and much more with all proceeds going to the CBCF.

May 20th: 85th annual Slush Cup

Voted one of the best spring events in North America, Slush Cup features wild and crazy individuals brave enough to ski or ride into a pool of ice cold, slush water, wearing their craziest and most original outfits. Registration opens at 8:30 a.m. on the day of the event. Participants must be at least 18 years old with valid photo ID.
