Powder Loving, on a June Day
On June 11th, Banff Sunshine Village woke up to a blanket of fresh snow. Overnight 15 cm of snow accumulated on our mountains. As the temperatures in the mountains dropped below freezing, one Calgary couple watched our webcams with excitement. For them, the new snow at Banff Sunshine meant they could get one more ski day in before summer

Excited by the promised return minter. On June 11th, Michael Lachance & Marie-France Fortin woke early to pack their ski gear, test their beacons, and drive to Banff Sunshine. They arrived at the base of the parking lot to summer weather. As the couple made their way up the ski-out they found themselves back in winter. "It felt surreal! To leave the parking lot in summer mode and to be in full blown winter mode within a few hours was just an incredible feeling." Michael exclaimed.

When we asked Michael about his post season ski day, he explains that he wanted to end the season with a bang. "We skied Sunshine on closing weekend and couldn't believe how good the conditions were." Michael and his wife, skinned to the top of Divide to score their last run of the season. "We couldn't believe the snow! It was REALLY good; it was some heavier powder with a really firm and supportive base. It skied REALLY WELL … Oh, and we didn’t even hit a single rock! This Powder Day of June 11th will stay in our memories forever! It was just epic!"
