Sunshine Village Spring Powder alert

Sunshine Village received another gift from skies Thursday, with 15 cm (6 in) of glorious snowfall blanketing the resort.

With another 15 cm (6 in) of snow forecasted throughout the weekend, and 46 cm received so far this week, the resort is poised to kick off its spring events and entertainment season with exceptional ski and snowboard conditions.

Sunshine has received 788 cm (310 in) of snow this season to date.

“Spring is when skiing is the best and our snow is deepest,” begins Tanya Otis, Manager of Communications, Media and Advertising at Sunshine Village Ski and Snowboard Resort. “We are still receiving light, fluffy powder and the conditions are just amazing right now. The later days, warm spring temperatures and upcoming concerts and events, provides the perfect weekend getaway for families and friends.”

Wide open until May 20th, the resort kicks off a multitude of spring activities this weekend, starting with the Cresa U16 Giant Slalom event.  Sunshine Village spring events include:

April 13th & 14th: Cresa U16 Giant Slalom

The Sunshine Alpine racers will host this giant slalom event taking place on the Scapegoat ski run off of the Goat’s Eye Chairlift. The men’s under 16 will take place on Saturday, April 13th with the women’s under 16 event on Sunday, April 14th.

April 20th & 21st: Sunshine Slopestyle event powered by Rockstar Energy

Calling all slopestyle skiers and riders. Join Sunshine Village for the inaugural Sunshine slopestyle event powered by Rockstar Energy. The event will take place in the Grizzly Terrain Park and will feature skiing on Saturday, April 20th and snowboarding on April 21st.

April 20th- May 19th: Sunshine Spring Concert Series

Live performances from local bands will take place every weekend from April 20th- May 19th. Concerts take place each afternoon starting at 2 p.m. and are accessible to all Sunshine on-mountain guests.

May 4th and 5th – New Moon

May 11th – TR3

May 12th – Funk & Disorderly

May 18th and 19th – The Steadies

May 19th: Bikini’s & Boardshorts

Help Sunshine Village raise money for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation (CBCF) by taking part in this fun-filled team event. See people of all ages skiing, snowboarding or simply riding the Strawberry Express quad chair in their snow pants and bikinis, or their boardshorts. A merchandise tent will be set up in the village selling water bottles, t-shirts, hats and much more with all proceeds going to the CBCF.

May 20th: 85th annual Slush Cup

Voted one of the best spring events in North America, Slush Cup features wild and crazy individuals brave enough to ski or ride into a pool of ice cold, slush water, wearing their craziest and most original outfits. Registration opens at 8:30 a.m. on the day of the event. Participants must be at least 18 years old with valid photo ID.
