Powder Season

Powder season has arrived at Sunshine Village

March 5, 2014

Skiers and riders can rejoice as powder season has arrived, with over 48 cm (1 ft 7 in) of snow falling on the resort the past few days and environment Canada forecasting much more snow on the way.

With mild daytime highs hovering around the freezing mark, and daily snowfall covering the resort in deep champagne powder, this first week of March is the ideal time to hit the slopes.

“What a tremendous way to kick off the month of March,” begins Tanya Otis, Manager of Communications, Media and Advertising at Sunshine Village. “The mild temperatures and recent snowfall, coupled with the recent opening of our bit mountain freeride zones Delirium Dive and the Wild West, guests can experience epic conditions as we head into spring.”

The abundance of snow has elevated the already-impressive settled base to 198 cm (6 ft 6 in) with an impressive 567 cm (15 ft 7 in) of the white stuff falling on the resort to date.

The resort is famous for its legendary all-natural champagne powder with March and April historically receiving heavy amounts of snow.
