New Moon

April 29, 2013

With 26 years of performing at Sunshine Village under their belt, New Moon is thrilled to entertain skiers and riders once again with some old favourites and original jams, too.

Who is New Moon?

We are a four piece band made up of Russ Brant, Shannon Sternloff, Brad Carter and Marty Carter. We all hail from Calgary, Alberta, but now live in different towns or cities throughout Alberta and British Columbia.

How long has the band been performing?

We’ve been playing together for over 30 years and currently have over 150 songs in our repertoire. We all live in different parts of Western Canada, but since we’ve been playing together for so long when we meet up, we pick up right where we’ve left off.

What kind of music can we expect to hear from New Moon?

We play at lot of cover songs, so that means you’ll hear folk, rock ‘n roll, blues and some pop. Guests at Sunshine can expect to hear some Jimmy Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, and a little Bob Marley in there too. We also like to play a few original songs, which we like to call reggae-rock.

Where does the band perform?

Lately we’ve played in and around the Bow Valley including the Rose ‘n Crown in Banff. Spring and summer is festival season, which means we will be making our rounds to festivals throughout Alberta and British Columbia over the next couple of months.

Have you played at ski resorts before?

We’ve played at Fernie Alpine Resort and the Lake Louise Ski Area. We also just did a New Year’s Eve show at Kimberley Alpine Resort in BC. You can’t beat the energy that comes from skiers and boarders. There is a bit of a party atmosphere and we hope to add to that momentum when we’re playing at Sunshine.

What does performing at the Sunshine Spring Concert Series mean to you?

Originally from Calgary, we all grew up skiing at Sunshine and we still visit whenever we can. It truly is one of the most beautiful places in the world and we are thrilled to be back. We like that Sunshine caters to people of all ages with the varied terrain for skiing and riding, and in the entertainment the resort provides. It’s a great place to bring the family and you really can’t beat the spring skiing.

New Moon is the third act featured in the 2013 Sunshine Village Spring Concert Series with performances on Saturday, May 4th and Sunday, May 5th. These live shows can be enjoyed by anyone with a lift ticket or season’s pass. Non-skiers may also purchase a gondola-only ticket to reach the concert area, located in the heart of Sunshine Village.
