A new way to experience the outdoors at Sunshine Village
With over 3,000 acres of skiable terrain across three mountains, Sunshine Village is known for its epic skiing and snowboarding turns. For those looking to explore the resort on foot, professional guides from White Mountain Adventures provide daily snowshoe trips to highlight the spectacular views. Guests of all ages and fitness levels can trek above the treeline for a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
With nearly 400 cm (160 in) falling on the resort to date, Sunshine Village sets the perfect snowshoe hike backdrop in the heart of the Canadian Rockies.
“Folks can expect a classic winter experience with breathtaking views of the valley,” says White Mountain Adventures owner, Gordon Stermann.
“Snowshoeing is a great way for people who aren’t big skiers to get outside and enjoy some physical activity in some truly beautiful scenery. On a sunny day, there is no other place to be than at the top of the Standish chairlift at Sunshine Village walking through untouched champagne powder,” added Stermann.
As a special holiday treat, White Mountain Adventures will be hosting a one-hour snowshoe hike on December 24th. This Christmas Eve event, exclusive to the Sunshine Mountain Lodge, begins outside the lobby and winds its way through the village long after all the skiers and riders have headed home for the evening. The event includes a bonfire gathering complete with hot chocolate and stories of history, facts and folklore.
