Spring Sunshine-style One month left to take advantage of unlimited skiing and riding at Sunshine Village April 24, 2014 If the 213 cm (7 ft) base and the four weeks left to ski and ride on Canada’s Best Snow isn’t enough to get you out of the city and out to the mountains, then perhaps the plethora of spring events happening every weekend until May 19th will be. This weekend, guests can take in the first act of the popular Sunshine Spring Concert Series, with internationally recognized Scott Moffatt, of “The Moffatts” fame playing in the heart of the village. The outdoor concert series features great Canadian bands sure to wow the crowds of skier and riders, so take a short break from the champagne powder slopes, work on your goggle tan and take in some stellar live music. Spring is a time for taking your après outdoors with plenty of venues for guests of all ages to enjoy. From the Molson Coors Beer Gardens and Patron Igloo to the Veuve Clicquot Champagne and Oyster Bar, taking a break from skiing has never looked so good. This weekend, guests can watch some of Alberta’s best up-and-coming athletes as they compete in the Slopestyle event Powered by Rockstar Energy. Taking place in the Rogers Terrain Park on April 26th and 27th, the event will see men and women ages 13 and older compete for top prizes. Then on May 17th guests can cheer on contestants in the new Salomon Rail Jam located near the Trapper’s Spring Patio in the village. Back by popular demand is the 6th annual Bikini’s and Boardshorts ski and ride for cancer happening on Sunday, May 18th. This popular event will once again see men and women of all ages skiing or riding in their bikini tops and snow pants or boardshorts down Strawberry face bringing awareness and raising money for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. This will be followed by the 86th annual Slush Cup on May 19th where brave individuals on skis or snowboards try to clear an ice-cold pool of water for prizes, but mostly bragging rights.
