Sunshine brings a taste of spring skiing to Calgary Sunshine Brings a Taste of Spring Skiing to Stephen Avenue Rocky mountain resort to host snow-filled rail jam in the heart of downtown Calgary April 22, 2014 Sunshine Village, in celebration of an amazing spring season, is delivering to Calgary from the mountains three tonnes of “Canada’s Best Snow” along with the best freestyle skiers and riders to feature its Downtown Throwdown rail jam in the heart of Calgary this Thursday, April 24 at noon. The world class resort will be joined by partners Rogers and Rockstar Energy in front of Flames Central on the 200 block of Stephen Avenue Mall, where they will help highlight the incredible ski conditions along with upcoming on-mountain spring concerts and events taking place throughout the resort. Sunshine Village, which boasts the longest non-glacial ski season in Canada, will remain “Wide Open” until Victoria Day on Monday, May 19. Nearly 30 feet of snow has fallen on the resort this season and with a current settled base of 212 cm (6 ft 11 in), spring skiing is at it’s optimum. To add to Sunshine’s famous spring conditions this weekend will kick off the popular Spring Concert Series with internationally recognized singer/songwriter Scott Moffatt of “The Moffatt’s” fame. The resort will also feature an abundance of outdoor patio concepts including Canada’s first champagne and oyster snow bar, slopestyle competitions and annual fundraisers.
