Incredible snowfalls and exceptional May events set to impress

The month of May has come in with a bang with snowfall after snowfall creating incredible spring conditions with over two weeks left to enjoy the world class slopes. Nearly 50 cm (1 ft 6 in) of fresh snow has fallen since the first of the month adding to the incredible 220 cm base (7 ft 3 in), and with additional soft, white snow in the week’s forecast, Sunshine is primed for an epic send off to the season.

Wide open until May 19th, the resort is featuring a variety of on-mountain events, fundraisers and outdoor après,  so be sure to join fellow snow seekers as we make the most of our time on the slopes. Throughout the month, Sunshine’s spring events lineup include: 

Sunshine Spring Concert Series

The resort’s popular outdoor concerts, which will see five local bands entertain on-mountain guests, will take place every weekend from April 26th and 27th through May 17th and 18th. The final act will perform on holiday Monday this Victoria Day Long weekend on May 19th. This year’s artists include returning favourites from Tim Hus and his Travelin’ Band to Funk and Disorderly, who bring their infectious mix of eclectic funk and reggae infused grooves.

The live shows can be enjoyed by anyone with a lift ticket or season’s pass. Non-skiers may also purchase a gondola-only ticket to reach the concert area, located high in the Canadian Rockies.

Calling all big air lovers! This debut competition will see men and women skiers and snowboarders aged 13-years and older compete on specialty rails and boxes set up on the Pandemonium Hill in front of the Mad Trapper’s spring patio. For an added twist, the show stopping event will include a water feature sure to excite competitors and spectators alike.

May 18th Bikini’s & Boardshorts Ski & Ride in support of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation

There is still time to help Sunshine Village raise money for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation (CBCF) by taking part in this fun-filled team event. Get your friends or coworkers together to ski, snowboard or simply ride the Strawberry Express quad chair in their snow pants and bikinis, or their boardshorts in support of an important cause. A merchandise tent will be set up in the village selling water bottles, t-shirts, hats and much more with all proceeds going to the CBCF.

May 19th: 86th annual Slush Cup

Voted one of the best spring events in North America, Slush Cup features wild and crazy individuals brave enough to ski or ride into a pool of ice cold, slush water, wearing their craziest and most original outfits. Registration opens at 8:30 a.m. on the day of the event. Participants must be at least 18 years old with valid photo ID.

Brand new Molson Coors Spring Beer Gardens

Enjoy a cold drink and work on your goggle tan between powder runs while listening to a live DJ in the Trapper’s spring patio every weekend from April 5th until May 19th.

Veuve Clicquot Champagne and Oyster bar

Join Sunshine Village at Canada’s first Veuve Clicquot champagne and oyster bar on the Trappers’ spring patio.  This new après ski offering, which is well known at resorts around the globe, will entice guests to sample one of the most recognizable French champagne brands while enjoying freshly shucked West Coast oysters.
