Sunshine Meadows Open For Hiking Banff Sunshine Village, August 11th: We woke up to the sun shining and the gondola turning. After nearly ten days of being closed to the public, due to the Verdant Creek Wild Fire, our team is thrilled to welcome back guests, sightseers, and hikers to our beautiful alpine paradise. During our operational closure, Parks Canada, and BC Parks were able to fight the Verdant Creek Fire at its northern boundary in the North Simpson region. The agencies made strong progress and were successful in their efforts to prevent the fire from crossing the continental divide. Although the battle against the Verdant Creek fire remains active in Kootenay National Park and Mount Assiniboine Provincial Park, it is not a threat to Banff National Park or the communities in the Bow Valley. Thanks to the firefighting efforts of the men and woman who are working to suppress the Verdant Creek Fire, the operational closure has been lifted on Banff Sunshine Village, Sunshine Mountain Lodge, and our Sunshine Meadows Hiking Trails. As of today (August 11th) our beautiful hiking trails are open for you to explore. For the weekend, the weather forecast is nothing but blue skies and sunshine. In other words, perfect weather for you to explore the beauty of Banff Sunshine Village in the summer. Join us for a scenic gondola ride, hike, and apres bite at Trapper's.
