On Monday, Banff Sunshine Village re-opens for guests!

Verdant Creek Fire Update, July 23

Banff Sunshine Village- Good News Friends!!! Starting Monday, July 24th, Parks Canada is lifting the operational closure of Banff Sunshine Village. As of Monday morning the Sunshine Road, Sunshine Gondola, Sunshine Mountain Lodge, and other village facilities will re-open to guests.

Over the past few days, Parks Canada was successful in their work of preventing the fire from spreading into key priority areas. While Verdant Creek Fire continues to be actively managed, Parks Canada says, “Our fire management specialists are confident in our actions and that the fire is not a risk to communities in the Bow Valley.”

On Monday, July 24th Normal Sunshine Operation Hours Will Resume For:

  • Guest Services
  • The Sunshine Gondola
  • The Base Area Facilities (Including First Track Café)
  • Mad Trapper’s Saloon
  • Sunshine Retail Stores
  • The Sunshine Meadows Interpretive Center

The Sunshine Mountain Lodge Will Reopen Monday Morning for Guests:

  • Guest can check in beginning at regular check in hours
  • The Chimney Corner Lounge will resume on Monday with Lunch and Dinner service (Breakfast service will follow on Tuesday, July 25th)

We are working with Parks Canada to assess when the hiking trail of Sunshine Meadows can be re-opened. Stay tuned as we hope to be able to make that announcement soon!  

*The Verdant Creek Wildfire continues to be fought in Assiniboine Provincial Park, we wish the BC Wildfire Service team success in fighting and managing the wildfire.
