Top things to experience at Sunshine Village this Easter long weekend

April 16, 2014

It’s time to break out the sunscreen and exchange that hot chocolate après for patio-side refreshments, as spring events and festivities ramp up at Sunshine Village. From outdoor concerts and slopestyle competitions, to ski cross racing and more, this spring Sunshine delivers the goods to ensure an epic experience with family and friends.  And with a closing date of May 19th, there is plenty of time to hit the slopes.

Here are a few activities taking place this second last weekend of April:

Spend Easter long weekend slopeside

Or, take in the popular Easter Church service at the top of the Strawberry High Speed Quad and enjoy an outdoor sermon complete with picturesque Rocky Mountain Views. The resort will also feature a delectable Easter Brunch in the Chimney Corner Lounge, in the Sunshine Mountain Lodge.

Salomon Spring Series

This Easter weekend Sunshine Village guests can take in some family-friendly slopeside entertainment while the region’s best up and coming athletes perform Mark McMorris-inspired tricks in the Rogers Terrain Park and newly constructed Pando Hill off of Trapper’s Spring Patio. The weekend events, which are part of the inaugural Salomon Spring Series, include a brand new slopestyle competition on Saturday starting at 10:30 am in the Rogers Terrain Park, followed by an encore of the wildly successful Salomon Berry Rail Jam on Sunday off the Pando Hill in front of Trapper’s Spring Patio.

Indulge in the Veuve Clicquot Champagne and Oyster Bar on Trapper’s Spring Patio

Longer bluebird days have arrived. This weekend, guests can indulge in the 2014 Veuve Clicquot Champagne and Oyster Bar on Trapper’s Spring Patio. Look for the backdrop of cheerful, yellow-hued patio furniture, creating the perfect spring vibe while taking in the exclusive people-watching location. Sit back with a glass of bubbly while taking a break from trekking through deep, spring time powder on Sunshine’s slopes.

Take the après outdoors

What better way to connect with like-minded skiers and riders than to grab a refreshing glass of your favourite beverage in the Molson Coors Beer Garden located in the heart of the Village. This weekend, look for samples of delicious Molson products to whet your palate including Rickard’s Shandy, Canadian Cider and Canadian 67 while listening to region’s best DJ’s performing on the village stage.

Take in the thrill of experiencing Sunshine’s ski cross track

Experience the course that Olympic gold medallist in ski cross Marielle Thompson took to win her third national title during the Sport Chek Canadian Ski Cross Championships. Located at the bottom of South Divide, the course is primed and ready for guests to test their mettle.
