Members of the Sunshine Village Ski and Snowboard Resort’s mountain operations team slipped on a pair of high heels in support of the Banff YWCA WALK A MILE IN HER SHOES®.
The annual fundraiser, which raises money to support YWCA initiatives focused on breaking the cycle of domestic violence, saw male participants strap on a pair of high heels and walk down Banff Avenue.
Employees from the resort’s mountain operations department collectively raised funds in preparation for the day’s event.
“As residents of Bow Valley, we were thrilled to be able to participate in today’s fundraiser,” begins Al Matheson, event participant and Mountain Operations Manager at Sunshine Village Ski and Snowboard Resort. “With so many employees at Sunshine Village who reside in Banff, this is a great way to support both the community and bring awareness to such an important topic.”
The event is part of a worldwide movement to raise awareness of domestic violence to help keep women and children safe.
The Banff YWCA WALK A MILE IN HER SHOES® has raised more than $130,000 in the past three years. In total 468 men have stood up and said "not in my community."
