The fourth annual event, held in celebration of the beautiful variety of summer blooms that blanket the subalpine valley, runs Aug. 6th to 12th.
“The goal of the event is to showcase Sunshine Meadows and promote a healthy lifestyle,” said organiser Tomoe Yamagata of White Mountain Adventures. “The wildflowers are at their peak in the coming weeks.”
Indian paintbrush, glacier lilies, purple fleabane and forget-me-nots are among the colourful bounty visitors can expect to enjoy during their visit to the area, which in winter is home to Sunshine Village Ski & Snowboard Resort.
In addition to the usual hiking trails, which are open for the season, there will be a variety of events going on throughout the week.
The 8th annual “Plein” Air Painout will take place on August 8th featuring some of Canada’s favourite mountain artists. The artists will be capturing the spectacular landscapes and scenery of the beautiful alpine meadows. You are invited to come out to visit and watch these artists work their magic.
Then on August 12th come out and join Ronna Scheberger for a mountain yoga experience. Ronna has been a professional interpretive hiking guide in the Canadian Rockies since 1994 and a Hatha Yoga instructor since the early 2000’s. She is a pioneer in combining hiking, yoga and storytelling. She’ll be leading a 2-3 hour program beginning at 9:30am and you can register by calling White Mountain Adventures at 403-760-4403 ext.24 or by email firstname.lastname@example.org.
