Take in the mountain flower vistas at Sunshine Meadows

August 8, 2014

Those back to school commercials may already be playing on repeat, but there’s still another month left of summer and two more months of hiking to enjoy at iconic Sunshine Meadows in Banff National Park.

August is the best time to try out the popular trek to Rock Isle Lake at Sunshine Meadows as the wildflowers are in full bloom. Those familiar with the area’s mountain wildflowers can expect purple Fireweed, the unique Wild Heliotrope, the Indian Paintbrush and many more.

Only an hour and a half from Calgary, Sunshine Meadows at Sunshine Village is a great escape from the city for families looking for a bonding experience, or groups of friends looking to hit the trails before the summer is over. And don’t worry about packing a lunch this year—Mad Trapper’s Saloon in the village is open for lunch and, of course, a post-hike beverage or two.

White Mountain Adventures features daily shuttles from the Sunshine Village parking lot to the village at 9 a.m., 10 a.m., 11 a.m. and 12 p.m. until October 5th (weather dependant).  To book, visit www.whitemountainadventures.com
