December at Banff Sunshine Village is typically a standout month of the winter season, but this year has taken things to a whole new level. With Canada’s Best Snow piling up early and often, December 2025 has been one of the snowiest December months in Sunshine’s recorded history.

A Record Start to Winter

So far this December, Sunshine Village has received extraordinary snowfall totals, pushing the month into the top five snowiest months ever recorded at the resort since we started keeping track. Early season storms and consistent cold temperatures have delivered abundant snow that’s already putting smiles on the faces of skiers and boarders from across the globe.

This incredible accumulation is a testament to Sunshine’s high-altitude position on the Continental Divide, which helps capture storm cycles that sometimes miss lower elevations.
