Record-Breaking season at Sunshine Village
Can you ever have too much snow? If you ask us at Banff Sunshine, we’d unanimously say NEVER! This winter, we have been spoiled with a delightful number of surprise powder days where Mother Nature showers us with light, fluffy, dry Banff Brut powder.
We started the 25-26 winter season with snow and lots of it. In December, we saw 268 cm of snowfall—making it the fifth snowiest December in our nearly 100-year history (January 1971 holds the record with 299 cm). December brought the snow, but March kept the momentum going.
Traditionally, March is the snowiest month in the Canadian Rockies. This March was no exception to the unwritten snow rule. Over the course of March’s 31 days, we saw 208 cm of world-famous Banff Brut powder landing on our mountain. That’s 6’8” (aka, slightly above the average height of an NBA player). Thanks to March, we’ve officially hit our snowiest season in more than a decade, and there are still two months of spring skiing to go.
This ski season to date, Sunshine’s cumulative total now sits at 812 cm in just 93 snowfall days. By comparison, that’s nearly double what we saw all of last season and there are still 47 days of skiing on the calendar until Slush Cup on May 18.
With two months of incredible spring skiing still to enjoy at Banff Sunshine, we encourage you to come and enjoy Canada’s Best Spring Skiing and Snowboarding. With longer days, extended lift hours, excellent snow conditions, weekend DJ performances at the Goat Club, and a full lineup of spring events – including Red Bull’s Jump and Freeze (April 25), Banff Sunshine is the place to be.
Make the most of spring at Sunshine with a spring pass. Spring passes ski off in just four visits to the mountain and include FREE access to all Sunshine events (including Jump & Freeze and Slush Cup). Learn more here.
