Dating back to 1600-1046 BCE, the multi-day Spring Festival is based on the lunisolar calendar. That being, the moon (lunar) and the sun (solar). Thus, the start of a new year begins when the moon is not visible in the night sky, which typically occurs between the last week of January and first three weeks of February. At Sunshine, that day is February 16.

To celebrate, we’ll be giving away over 200 vouchers for discounted items at our Banff Sunshine Village retail stores. From Sunshine hoodies and toques to even a Super Card voucher, this is your chance to get discounted Sunshine gear for Spring Skiing!

You’ll also want to stay for the mane (get it?) event, Lion Dancers! They’ll be up in the Village performing a couple of shows too—as legend has it—bring good luck, ward off evil spirits, and entertain guests throughout the afternoon.
