SKI Mag's Best in the West!
Thank You to Our Fans
From third place in 2025, to second in 2026, and now… the No. 1 spot in SKI Magazine’s 2027 Reader Resort Survey for the Best Resorts in the West!
First and foremost, we would like to thank our incredible guests, community, and fans of our three peaks. From the turns you made to the memories created and votes casted, you've all helped make this moment possible. This achievement belongs to our entire Sunshine family, and we couldn't be more excited to celebrate it with you.
SKI Magazine's Top 30 Resorts in the West 2027
What Makes This Recognition So Special?
For those who may not be familiar, SKI Magazine’s annual Reader Resort Survey opens the door for skiers and snowboarders to rate resorts across North America in 18 categories. From snow quality, grooming, and terrain to guest service, dining, après, and more, the survey captures the many elements that shape the overall mountain experience. The results are then used to determine the top 50 resorts in North America’s East and West.
SKI Magazine also takes steps to ensure the integrity of the voting process, using software to filter out duplicate IP addresses and repeat email submissions. So, there’s no ballot stuffing here! Even better, resorts cannot buy, sponsor, or advertise their way into the rankings, and not even the magazine's editorial team can alter or determine the scores.
That’s why this recognition means so much: it’s a genuine reflection of the people who experience North America's resorts and ski their mountains. We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who continues to share their love of our island in the sky, as well as to our incredible team, whose commitment to guest excellence makes it all possible.
Speaking off our team, who make it all possible...
Opening Day!
As a thank you to our fans who helped make this our biggest achievement yet, we’re excited to share that Banff Sunshine Village is planning to welcome you back on Saturday, November 7, 2026, for the start of the 2026/27 winter season.
We’re kicking things off with a limited early season opening, including the gondola, magic carpet and a hike rail park on lower Strawberry, plus select restaurants, shopping, rentals and guest services. The rail park will be accessed on foot, with a hike back up between laps. Additional lifts and terrain will open as snowfall and conditions allow.
