With over 70cm of fresh snow over the last week, Sunshine Village is certainly living up to its reputation for champagne powder this holiday season.
“This is why we say we have Canada’s best snow,” said John Scurfield, Senior Vice-President Sales, Marketing and Resort Operations. “It’s great to see the joy all that fresh powder brings - there are a lot of smiling faces on the mountain.”
With all 12 lifts now open and a settled snow pack of 145cm, Sunshine Village is wide open with 98 runs for you to explore.
The Wild West freeride zone opened yesterday – the earliest ever opening for this terrain.
This expert riding terrain isn’t for everyone. It requires proper safety equipment and training, including an avalanche probe, a shovel, a beacon and a minimum of one buddy – but the fact that it is open shows that conditions are excellent throughout the mountain.
Wild West has many unique features to offer. If jump turns through a narrow, aesthetic couloir are your taste, then be sure to check out Peyto’s gully.
The Wild West features some of the most advanced in-bounds terrain available in North America. Located on Goat’s Eye Mountain, the Wild West can be seen from the gondola above curve station.
Whether you’re planning to come out for the steeps or the groomed cruisers, Sunshine Village has terrain to suit all levels of skiers and riders.
