Meet the Slush Cup 95 Judges!
Almost a century ago, two friends were skiing on a spring day. The pair were enjoying an open bowl off of what is now Wawa’s Paris Basin. It’s believed the skiers came across the notorious run, Waterfall in a liquid state. One friend dared the other to ski the wild waterfall – and well, the rest is history.
Over the years from the first “water ski,” our Slush Cup has grown from a campy, year-end local party to Canada’s official End-Of-Ski-Season festival. Each year our team at Banff Sunshine works hard to make the event a little bit bigger, and a little bit better. As Slush Cup Monday has grown, so too have the level of competition. Elite ski and snowboard athletes travel both near and far to compete for the crown of Mr. and Ms. Slush Cup. With top tier talent arriving to compete, we at Banff Sunshine have recruited top tier talent to judge the skiers and snowboarders competing in our 95th Slush Cup.
Athletes partaking in Slush Cup will be judged on a series of factors:
Costume – What was the costume, and how much effort was put into it?
Execution – Did they hit the jump? Did they skim across the pool, did they exit the pool?
Style – What extra flair did the contestant add to their run?
Completion – Did they stay of their feet? Did they stay dry? Did they complete the run?
Attitude – Self-explanatory.
The winner of Slush Cup must successfully hit the jump, land in the water, skim across a 110-foot pool of cold snow water, while wearing a costume.
For our 95th Slush Cup, we’ve recruited some of Canada’s top snow talent – and a self-proclaimed professional blabber mouth. Meet our 2025 Slush Cup Judges.
